Divisional Officer Colin Hodge and Assistant Divisional Officer Robert Middleton arrived together at Lowestoft Fire Station shortly after 10 o’clock. Emerging from their red Astra Deluxe they were lighting armed with clobber. DO Hodge carried a brief case while ADO Middleton retrieved an audio-cassette recorder from the trunk.
They then slovenly shuffled themselves through the Station’s front entrance into the reception and carried their items upstairs into the Fire Safety offices.
Whereupon they proceeded to make base camp for their campaign.
