On Thursday 6th August 1998, I arrived at Normanshurst Fire station at approximately 0905 hours. I entered the station reception room and saw Sub O Wigglesworth there. As he was wearing a tee shirt and shorts I presumed that he was off duty. At approximately 1000 hours I heard a tannoy message from the receptionist asking Sub O Wigglesworth to contact her urgently. Shortly afterwards DO. Hayden told me that Sub O Wigglesworth should be on duty, but was absent. I told DO. Hayden that I had seen him in..

…the reception office upon my arrival. At approximately 1045 hours DO hayden looked out of the window and said that Sub O Wigglesworth had returned to the station. I did not see him on that occasion. G Saward
