Tuesday 18th August 1998
Time 11.10
DO Hodge
[..(Having considered your point I am of the opinion that both matters are separate and therefore this interview will continue*. You have refused the opportunity to have the interview tape recorded. It is therefore as already explained, DO Smith’s role to transcribe this interview. You are welcome to have a copy of both the questions which I have prepared and DO Smith’s notes immediately on completion of this interview. I would remind you, you are on duty and it is your duty to co-operate with this interview. I will therefore re-caution you.
“You do not have to say anything, or answer any of the questions put to you at this interview unless you wish to do so, but what you say will be taken down in writing and may be used in a subsequent disciplinary hearing. Do you understand the caution?”)..150 words spoken] = 37.5 words per minute 11.10 – 11.14 hours
Note: Caution given by DO Hodge at 11.14.
Sub O Wigglesworth
[..(Yep!
In response to your caution I must also tell you that the transcript may or may not be used in a pending legal process. The decision you have just made, was it made in consultation with the Brigade Investigating Officer?
DO Hodge
The decision was made by me in consultation with DO Smith. I am now going to carry on with this interview. If there is anything else you would like to add, please do so now. Is there anything else you want to add?
Sub O Wigglesworth
Yes, its coming in a minute. First of all in relation to the 5th August 1998.
Can I have a couple of minutes recession?**).. 108 words spoken] = 18 words per minute 11.14 – 11.20 hours.
Note: Short recession at 11.20.
* Bearing in mind the trivia contrived in DO Hodge’s notebook isn’t it strange he has seemly omitted this episode? But then again maybe not?
** By now DO Hodge was becoming irritated and aggressive to the fact that Wiggy was scribing his own notes. Funny DO Smith seems to have omitted what was said in words about this, by himself, and DO Hodge.
